Description

The Arduino Uno is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328. It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started.

Great price, endless possibilities Got one to build a RFID garage door opener, and ended up with five more UNO boards!! This is so much fun to tinker with, it's addictive. I would wholeheartedly encourage parents to purchase the starter kit for their engineers to be (comes with everything needed to start playing). December 11, 2011
Another Great Product! Great Product! The new ATmega8U2 USB chip looks to be a bit faster then the older FTDI chip but its a lot harder to reprogram if needed. Other then that I have been using this board for projects for a few months now with no problems. May 27, 2011

A: 
For order code 3T9285, only Arduino UNO board comes with it. You need a standard USB cable (A plug to B plug). No separate programmer board required.

The Arduino Uno can be programmed with the Arduino software. Here is the software download link-

Where's the DAC?

Details: 
Of what good purpose can a device that has only inputs be used for? I need I/O, for all my products, boards that only do "I" and no "O" are useless. Boards with equal amounts of ADC and DAC would be most desirable!

A: 
I agree that both ADC and DAC would be ideal, but with a DAC only you still have I/O capability in that the digital outputs can be used to make a logical response based on the ADC's current level which is better than just a discrete logic level input. This at least makes your system capable of making decisions based on temperature, pressure, fluid levels, acceleration and so on. In some cases the PWM output can also be used where proportional responses are needed. There are also discrete devices with DAC outputs that are controlled through SPI or parallel I/O.
