EVALST7540-2 board integrates the ST7540 power line transceiver along with the power supply section, the signal coupling interface section, crystal oscillator and device protections. The ST7540 is a half duplex synchronous/asynchronous FSK modem designed for power line communication network applications. It operates from a single supply voltage and integrates a line driver and two linear regulators for 5V and 3.3V. The device operation is controlled by means of an internal register, programmable through the synchronous serial interface. The coupling interface section has been realized for communication around 72KHz carrier frequency, within the european CENELEC standard A-band specified for automatic meter reading applications. This communication feature has been optimised through tuned receiving and transmitting filters on the board. The EVALST7540-2 board must be connected to a PC through the EVALCOMMBOARD general purpose board.
