A leaded tantalum capacitor is a type of tantalum capacitor that has metal leads for through-hole mounting on a printed circuit board. It is usually encapsulated in a small epoxy box to protect it from damage. Leaded tantalum capacitors can have different shapes, such as bead, axial, or radial. They are marked with their capacitance and voltage ratings, either with figures or colour codes.

Vishay's Solid-Electrolyte TANTALEX™ Capacitors are hermetically sealed, axial-leaded, and CECC Approved. Terminations are tin / lead (SnPb) or 100 % tin (RoHS-compliant). The capacitors have a hermetically sealed metal case with plastic film insulation. An extended capacitance range (type 749DX) is available. They have high operational stability with both time and temperature, low leakage current and a low dissipation factor. Applications: Performance and reliability has been proven in a wide range of applications such as filtering, by-pass, coupling, energy storage, and timing circuits.
