LT®3581 is a PWM DC/DC converter with built-in fault protection features to aid in protecting against output shorts, input/output overvoltages, and overtemperature conditions. It is ideal for many local power supply designs. In addition, its switch allows the part to be configured in high voltage, high power charge pump topologies that are very efficient and require fewer components than traditional circuits. The part may be clocked internally at a frequency set by the resistor from the RT pin to ground, or it may be synchronized to an external clock. It also features innovative active-low SHDN pin circuitry that allows for slowly varying input signals and an adjustable undervoltage lockout function. Typical applications are local power supply, vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) bias supplies, TFT-LCD bias supplies, automotive engine control unit (ECU) power.

• Frequency foldback and soft-start are integrated
• Minimum input voltage is 2.5V maximum (TA=25°C, VIN=5V, Vactive-low SHDN=VIN, Vactive-low FAULT=VIN)
• Quiescent current is 2.3mA (not switching)
• Active-low SHDN pin bias current is 60µA maximum (V active-low SHDN=3V)
• Reference line regulation is 0.05%/V (2.5V ≤ VIN ≤ 20V)
• 14-lead plastic DFN package
• Temperature rating range from -40°C to 125°C
