    RASPBERRY-PI - RPI CAMERA BOARD - ADD-ON BOARD, CAMERA MODULE, RASPBERRY PI 5 5 12 12
Great little Camera Can't get anything better for the Raspberry Pi. A cable that keeps it's shape would be nice though. April 22, 2015
Great value This camera is a great value and easy to use with the popular Pi distributions (I use it on Raspbian). It's a good, simple choice over a USB webcam when you can locate the camera near the Pi and don't need too much in the way of camera mobility, since the ribbon cable can be a bit restrictive to movement. (Longer cables are available, at least at Adafruit, maybe here as well.) The cable connector does not feel like it's designed for frequent connect-disconnect cycles, just be careful with it. One tip: if you start seeing artifacts or lines in your photos or videos, bump up to a higher current power supply. The camera seems quite sensitive to low power conditions. I ran into that issue with a marginally spec'd wall wart, and solved it by switching to a fairly clean 5V @2.5A supply instead, and the artifacts went away. April 8, 2015
Awesome camera, even awesome coding interface Haven't seen a simpler easy to use diy camera interface than this one. raspberry pi official website has blogs and videos explaining how to hook up and code for this camera. python and autocomplete makes it a breeze March 17, 2015
great device to explore single board computing can't wait to get this integrated into my Rasp Pi system. February 27, 2015
Good Pictures & Video Using it as a streaming video motion detector since I can't hear the doorbell from my office. Lets me know when I've got to sign for FedEx or answer the door. Easy to set up February 20, 2015

the videos on raspberrypi.org all indicate that the ribbon comes as part of the camera module, but this says board only; is the ribbon cable included in 'board only'?

I am interested in applying the RPI and the camera to a project that needs to shoot in either TIFF or RAW format. Do you know what sort of formats the board supports?

The Pi Camera can be used to streaming. It is automatically set to stream to the HDMI port when you turn the unit on and set it up.
