Product Overview
ST232CTR is a 5V-powered multi-channel RS-232 driver and receiver. It is particularly suitable for applications where ±12V is not available. It uses a single 5V power supply and only four external capacitors (0.1µF). It is used in applications such as portable computers, low-power modems, interface translation, battery-powered RS-232 systems, and multi-drop RS-232 networks.
- Supply voltage range from 4.5V to 5.5V
- Controlled output slew rate
- VCC Power supply current is 5mA typical at (no load, TA = 25°C)
- Input leakage current is ±40µA maximum at (C1 - C4 = 0.1µF, VCC = 5V ±10%, TA = -40 to 85°C)
- Transition slew rate is 7V/µs typical at (TA = 25°C, VCC = 5V, RL = 3 to 7Kohm, CL = 50 to 2500pF)
- Data rate is 220Kbits/s typical at (TA = 25°C, VCC = 5V, RL = 3 to 7Kohm, CL = 50 to 2500pF)
- Receiver propagation delay is 0.3µs typical at (CL = 150pF, TA = 25°C, VCC = 5V)
- Transmitter output resistance is 300 ohm minimum at (VCC = V+ = V- = 0V, VOUT = ±2V)
- Operating temperature range from 0°C to 70°C
- TSSOP16 package
