Product Overview
L7815CP is an L78 series positive voltage regulator IC. This regulator can provide local on-card regulation, eliminating the distribution problems associated with single-point regulation. Each type embeds internal current limiting, thermal shut-down, and safe area protection, making it essentially indestructible. If adequate heat sinking is provided, they can deliver over 1A output current. Although designed primarily as fixed voltage regulators, these devices can be used with external components to obtain adjustable voltage and currents.

- Output transition SOA protection
- Quiescent current is 8mA max (TJ = 25°C)
- Supply voltage rejection is 54dB min (VI = 18.5 to 28.5V, f = 120Hz)
- Dropout voltage is 2V typ (IO = 1 A, TJ = 25°C)
- Output noise voltage is 90µV/VO typ (TA = 25°C, B = 10Hz to 100KHz)
- Output voltage drift is -1mV/°C typ (IO = 5mA)
- Short circuit current is 0.23A typ (VI = 35V, TA = 25°C)
