ALS-CAT5EJWP is a HyperLink wireless brand weatherproof CAT5e 10/100 Base-T lightning and surge protector. In addition, the unit is compatible with 802.3af/at Power-over Ethernet (PoE) devices. The unit features a low capacitance diode array that can withstand large surge currents. The design utilizes a thyristor diode which switches to a low impedance state once triggered. This offers superior power handling capability compared to TVS or zener diode based designs. The limits are +/- 58volts on the four cable pairs. PG16 cable glands are provided on the enclosure as well as an external ground clamp to provide a tie point for earth ground. Typical applications are 10/100 Base-T Ethernet networks, wireless access points and bridges, wireless client adapters, IP cameras.
