Works great! Exactly as I expected. Works great. We are basing a design around it and it is perfect! June 10, 2015
Perfect kit for beginners Ordered with 8Gb NOOBS and gave a wonderful jumpstart to this pi world. I hooked up a usb power,HDMI, logitech K400r and a Netis wifi usb. Pi came online within no time. May 30, 2015
Raspberry Pi 2 Model B - 8GB NOOBS Very nice upgrade from the original Model B - 4 USB ports vice 2, and an upgraded 4-core Arm7 processor; memory upgraded from 512MB to 1GB. The 'bare' model was out of stock, but this 'kit' w/the 8GB NOOBS card bundled was only $5 more. The NOOBS card is a microSD with an adapter to the standard size - probably for compatibility with the older Raspberry Pi's that take the standard size (Model 2 uses the microSD directly.) Using this as a squeezebox replacement It is a cute little SBC that runs Linux just fine. I bought it to run the Logitec Media Server and squeezelite, that emulates the function of a Squeezebox. It was able to run the server, squeezelite (on the same server machine), and serve 3 other squeeze-type clients, just ticking over. The server will have been decoding the flac-encoded music files. It was also connected to a display, keyboard, and mouse at the time. The music files were on an external flash drive, not the SD card. Squeezelite was output through IQaudio DAC+ and AMP+ for outstanding sound. The Pi's built-in audio doesn't claim to be hi-fi and it well and truly isn't. May 18, 2015

A:
No power supply is included. The entire device, including your USB attached keyboard and mouse, is powered via a standard USB cable with a micro-B connector at the Raspberry Pi end. (Same USB connector as used by many Android smart phones and tablets for charging. This cable and charger are not included but can be ordered at the same time or purchased from most any electronics or big box retailer.) Current draw depends on peripherals in use, but a minimum of more than 600 ma is needed. A 1 amp plug in adapter designed to charge a cell phone or tablet over USB makes a serviceable power supply. The device will also operate using a USB connection to a desktop computer as a power source if desired and if the desktop computer has sufficient power on the port.

A:
This specific part number includes a Pi and an SD card with "Noobs", which is software used to install an OS on that same SD card. You have a choice of OSes. I've only used it to install Raspbian, a debian-based GNU/Linux.

You can buy an RPi without the card for a few bucks less.

A:
The possibilities are legion--see the web.

The project I used it for was to emulate the squeezebox line of network music players and to run the Logitech Media Server software that serves the players. It handles the software no sweat (all available on the internet: I see that the Terms and Conditions prevent me from citing a web site, so you'll have to Google to find out how to do it).

For this project you need only be comfortable with Linux and the command line, although the web site above gives detailed instructions. It's a little difficult for me to estimate how much experience with Linux you need because I have a lot, so it's hard to see it with the eyes of a novice.

For DAC I used the excellent IQaudio Pi DAC+; since I wanted to drive my stereo, and to have a stand-alone player in another room, I also used the excellent IQaudio Pi AMP+ which can easily drive bookshelf speakers.

NOOBS just makes it easier to get started.

A:
Start with the raspberrypi.org web site. For specific questions, use Google. All the questions I've had were more or less answered that way. I say more or less because I got at least one non-working answer that way, so take a look at more than one answer before committing a lot of time to any one answer.

One of the primary appeals of the RPi is the community support.
