Product Description

Inductive Sensing is a contactless, magnet-free short-range sensing technology that provides a low-cost, high-resolution sensing solution of conductive targets even in the presence of dust, dirt, oil, and moisture. Perfect for hostile environments and industrial applications this highly reliable sensing technology utilizes coils and springs as inductive sensors creating an ultra-low cost system solution allowing precision measurements of linear/angular position, displacement, motion, compression, vibration, metal composition, and much more.

The LDC1000 is the world’s first inductance-to-digital converter, offering the benefits of inductive sensing in a low-power, small-footprint package. The product is available in a SON-16 package and offers several modes of operation. Making active use of modern technologies the LDC1000 supports both pressed foil and conductive ink targets and allows sensors to be placed remote from electronics where PCBS are unable to be placed while an SPI interface simplifies connection to an MCU.

While ideal for industrial environments and applications with sub-micron resolution in position-sensing applications with 16-bit resonance impedance and 24-bit inductance values, small size and tiny power demands (<8.5 mW during standard operation & <1.25 mW in standby) provides flexibility for portable devices such as games controls.
