Product Overview

The LM335Z/NOPB is a precision, easily-calibrated, Integrated Circuit Temperature Sensor. Operating as a 2-terminal zener, the LM135 has a breakdown voltage directly proportional to absolute temperature at 10mV/°K. With less than 1Ω dynamic impedance, the device operates over a current range of 400µA to 5mA with virtually no change in performance. When calibrated at 25°C, the LM135 has typically less than 1°C error over a 100°C temperature range. Unlike other sensors, the LM135 has a linear output. The low impedance and linear output make interfacing to readout or control circuitry are especially easy.

What an interesting device! Temperature sensors, and perhaps the LM335Z in particular, are nothing new to a lot of you, but this one, with its essentially linear temperature response, presents many possibilities for interesting projects I'd like to build. Finding this device is the result of a search for a temperature sensor that would allow me to build a fan control for a woodstove environment. This is going to do the job nicely. The LM335Z, being a TO-92 package, is very convenient for breadboarding, as well as building the final project. December 24, 2014
