TENMA - 21-8230 - TWEEZER, SOLDER/DESOLDER, 110V, 40W 4 5 2 2
Tenman 21-8230 Tweezer I had bought this product mainly to rework about 50 SMD LEDs (3.2x1.6mm) that had been assembled in reverse polarity. I had originally tried to remove them with a regular soldering iron, but was not able to do so without destroying the connections. So I decided to buy this unit along with three sizes of the smaller tips. I was able to use this unit succesfully to remove the LEDs and some crystals. I was expecting that for a little over $30 I would get a tool that I could use for a bit of rework, but also with some shortcomings. Here are my observations: (1) The handles get fairly hot if you hold it "normally". I found myself having to hold it more towards the power cord in order not to feel the pain. (2) It is a bit tricky getting the tips tightened down and aligned properly. But I got the hang of it. I probably won't use the iron much as I do mostly prototyping and should only need to correct the occasional mistake in design or assembly. Overall, I this unit is a good value for the price. I will need to use it quite a bit more to know if it is a reliable tool. April 29, 2015
Tweezer, Solder/Desolder The tips are a little crude but after a little practice it gets the job done. Good for the price. March 17, 2015
