SAN FRANCISCO and CHICAGO, IL (March 29, 2004)
Design Engineers to Benefit from Expanded Selection of Semiconductors, Passives, and Other Key Categories
As part of Newark element14's continued focus on serving the needs of design engineers, the company today announced it is adding approximately 40,000 new products to its online selection in 2004. Newark element14, a business of global Premier Farnell plc (NYSE:PFP, LSE:pfl) and the leading small-quantity distributor of electronic components and test equipment in North America, made this announcement at the electronicaUSA-Embedded Systems Conference.
"This year's expansion follows the momentum Newark element14 built in 2003, when we grew our inventory with more than 50,000 new products," said Eric Smith, market segment director, design engineers, at Newark element14. "Through various channels, including our local branch offices, the Web and surveys, we obtain customer feedback and add products accordingly. We're committed to delivering the components design engineers need to respond to the hottest technology trends. In fact, we're already stocking hybrid microcontrollers that combine the best of two technologies."
The majority of the expansion has been, and will continue to be, in the categories of semiconductors, passives, connectors, and electromechanical.
To date, additions include:
50 percent more semiconductors to offer the leading selection of Discretes and an enhanced Microcontroller, Memory and DSP portfolio. Ramtron (high-speed memory) joins a roster of 50+ top manufacturers, including TI, Vishay, IR and Fairchild.
Double the number and variety of passives to offer a full range of sizes and values. The world-class Taiyo Yuden line (miniature ceramic capacitors, inductors, filters ferrites) has recently been added, and Newark element14 stocks the largest selection in North America.
30 percent more relays, switches, sensors and power products including AC/DC end-to-end UPS systems from American Power Conversion, and a full range of miniature and PCB-mounted switches.
30 percent more connectors added to what already was the broadest connector selection in the industry from top manufacturers, including Molex, Tyco and Amphenol.
