AEC selects Newark to bring Elesta relays to the Americas

Relays meet European safety, American quality standards for design-in applications

CHICAGO-SEPTEMBER 5, 2007 — Newark (www.newark.com), part of the global Premier Farnell Group, and a leading multi-channel, high-service electronics distributor supporting millions of engineers and purchasing professionals across the Americas, is pleased to announce that it has been chosen by American Electronic Components (AEC) as the first North American distributor for Swiss specialist relay manufacturer Elesta.

"AEC and Newark's long-standing relationship has resulted in the successful sourcing of our mercury displacement relays, tilt and g-force switches to nearly every market imaginable over the last 20 years," says Keith Vanderbosch, Vice President, AEC. "With their effective multi-channel marketing approach, and wide range of engineering and manufacturing customers, were confident that they will do the same for Elesta."

Elesta's safety relays are designed with forcibly-guided contacts. Complying with the European safety standard EN5020205, its break and make contacts are isolated in separate chambers and designed so that they are never closed at the same time. Their application areas are highly diverse and range from emergency-off switching devices over transport systems (elevators, escalators, etc.) to complex machine controls.

"Customers look to Newark for unique solutions, and will quickly discover that Elesta relays are an important part of their designs wherever people and equipment need to be protected from injuries and damage," says Paul Buckley, Senior VP Product & Supplier Management, Newark.

Stock available for same-day shipping at www.newark.com/elesta includes the worlds smallest safety relay (SIS212), the flattest safety relays (SIF4, SIF6) with 4 and 6 contacts, plus a wide range of package sizes and contact configurations.
