NEWARK INONE PACKS ROHS BIN LABEL INTO NEW PACKING SLIP
Newest solution to help companies track their compliant parts internally
CHICAGO MARCH 9, 2006 — Newark, a subsidiary of global distributor Premier Farnell plc and the leading small-quantity distributor of electronic components, test equipment and RoHS compliant solutions in North America, introduces a packing slip designed to help customers track and segregate RoHS compliant parts within their company's inventory systems. This is critical as RoHS compliant and non-compliant parts are identical in appearance, and the wrong version can easily be used in error. The RoHS status of each part is indicated on the packing slip, as well as the manufacturer part number, manufacturer name, country of origin and English description. Self-adhesive bin labels for each item are also incorporated in a perforated section of the packing list. Each bin label is printed with the manufacturer part number, customer part number (if available), part description, RoHS status, and the Newark SKU number (text and barcode).
"One of the challenges of transitioning to RoHS compliance is controlling the integrity of your inventory during the receiving and stocking stages," comments Paul Tallentire, president, Newark. "That's why in addition to our new packing slip, we provide an item-level label on each part's innermost packaging indicating its RoHS status, along with the manufacturer, customer and Newark part numbers."
