NEWARK INONE EXPANDS ITS SEMICONDUCTOR SELECTION BY 50%
Chicago, IL (MAY 12, 2003) — Newark, a business of global Premier Farnell plc (NYSE:PFP, LSE:pfl) and the market-leading distributor of electronic components, value-added services and eProcurement solutions in the Americas, announced today that it has expanded its semiconductor offering by 50%.
As a result, Newark now offers an unmatched assortment of discrete components, an enhanced microcontroller, memory and DSP portfolio, and the newest technology in optoelectronic products, as well as more than 150 development tools to support all major manufacturers. The distributor made this announcement at the 2003 Electronics Distribution Show in Las Vegas.
Expanding both the breadth and the depth of its semiconductor selection, Newark has added more products from Analog Devices, IR, Vishay Semiconductors, Fairchild Semiconductor, Microchip, Motorola, On Semiconductor and Texas Instruments, in addition to adding new manufacturers: Ramtron, IDT, CCS Inc., Alliance Semiconductor Corporation and SRC Devices. In all, the distributor now carries more than fifty semiconductor and optoelectronic manufacturers.
"This expansion is part of a larger initiative to add 50,000 new products by year's end, nearly four times the number we have historically added," according to Steve Hopkins, VP of Product Management, Newark. In early March, Newark doubled its selection of surface mount and leaded passive components.
