Product Overview

The FT245BL/TR is a USB FIFO device in 32 pin LQFP package. This device adds extra functionality to its FT8U245AM predecessor and reduces external component count. It also maintains high degree of pin compatibility with original, making it easy to upgrade or cost reduce existing designs as well as increasing potential for using device in new application areas. Simple to interface with MCU/PLD/FPGA logic with 4-wire handshake interface. Entire USB protocol handled on-chip and USB specific firmware programming is not required. FTDI’s royalty free VCP and D2XX drivers eliminate the requirement for USB driver development in most cases. The FT245BL provides an easy cost effective method of transferring data to/from peripheral and host PC at up to 8 million bits (1Megabyte) per second. It's simple FIFO like design makes it easy to interface to any microcontroller or microprocessor via IO ports.
