Product Overview

The FRDM-KL25Z Wi-Fi shield kit is a Kinetis KL25Z NXP freedom platform with Arduino Wi-Fi shield board. This freedom development platform is a low cost evaluation and development platform featuring NXP's newest ARM Cortex-M0+ based Kinetis KL25Z MCUs. It can be used to evaluate the KL14, KL15, KL24 and KL25 devices. It features a KL25Z128VLK, a device boasting a maximum operating frequency of 48MHz, 128KB of flash, a full speed USB controller and loads of analogue and digital peripherals. The FRDM-KL25Z is the first hardware platform to feature the NXP open standard embedded serial and debug adapter known as OpenSDA. This board offers several options for serial communication, flash programming and run control debugging. The Arduino Wi-Fi shield allows an Arduino board to connect to the internet using the 802.11 wireless specifications. It is based on HDG204 Wireless LAN 802.11b/g system in package. An AT32UC3 provides a network stack capable of both TCP and UDP.
  • MKL25Z128VLK4 Cortex M0+ MCU with 128kB flash, 16kB SRAM, 48MHz speed and full speed USB controller

A:
There is an onboard Mini-USB connector. This is not for programming an attached Arduino, it is for updating the AT32UC3 using the Atmel DFU protocol. The programming jumper adjacent to the power bus and analog inputs should be left unconnected for typical use. It is only used for DFU programming mode.
