Mabee I have the setting wrong I received the vt02 today the image with the over lay is poor I have a known draft coming from a door at my house and it shows the temp decrease but no visual change in color on the heat map. I was actually shocked to see a product made by fluke with such poor quality imaging and accuracy. April 19, 2014
Great for the Field Service Tech I use this for diagnosing bearing distress level coupled with vibration readings. Its great for showing a customer just how "hot" their bearings are running. Great tool quick scans to find possible problem spots in connections or checking for excessive friction in belted applications. I do wish the reporting software was better but its a small thing in the overall usefulness of the VT02. January 18, 2014

Useful but one bug The background temperature reverts to 68F when you power off and on again regardless what you set previously. My usage is in an environment at a constant higher BG temperature and I have to reset the BG every time I power on the unit. Is there a way to make the BG setting default to the last setting every time I power the unit on? July 11, 2013
Great tool for low price We purchased this unit as a quick lab tool for engineering use. It allows us to quickly and easily see how our products heat up and dissipate heat. We can then accurately place thermocouples in the best locations to get accurate measurements. The thermal resolution is not very high, but that is one of the reasons this is prices at such a low price point. One feature that would have been nice is a usb port to get images on a computer. The micro sd card is a little inconvenient to pull images off of if you don't have a card reader handy. July 3, 2013

How is the one temperature number calculated? Is it the average of the entire screen, center weighted or what?

Would this instrument be suitable for measuring temperature on small electrical components (SMT) on Printed circuit boards. or would the Fluke FLK-TIS 9HZ - THERMAL IMAGING SCANNER be more suitable.

A: 
As per supplier reply between the two "FLK-TIS 9HZ" and "FLUKE-VT02" you can consider "FLK-TIS 9HZ" which is more suitable for the application namely due to the minimum focus distance of 15cm.
