Electrical Engineer, Technical Director I recently acquired a Fluke Ti400 infrared camera, and as a Site Survey (troubleshooting) Electrical Engineer I utilize its high performance features which makes my work accurate, fast and easy. Working in industrial environments (performing electrical inspections), I can discover electrical issues in motors, circuit brakers, electrical equipment, things I never would have seen before. With the Fluke Ti400, I can spot potential problems before they develop and could cause major damage such as plant shutdown. The critical Benefit of the Fluke Ti400 is that equipment failure can be detected and replaced before it’s too late. Early detection of a failing component allows for scheduled repairs and avoids costly downtime.  I ‘m able now, to check bearings on rotating equipment, locate “hot spots” in furnaces and process tanks, indicating thinning or missing refractory lining or insulation. Failure to identify these areas can result in catastrophic failure leading to safety-related problems as well as a loss in production. I can work now in preventive maintenance applications, checking the safety of power switches, critical to plant operation, and measuring the amount of product in bulk tanks. One of the characteristics of the Fluke Ti400 infrared camera that  I like the best is the “intelligent”  LaserSharp AutoFocus that provides perfectly focused images. This characteristic is the single most important thing to ensure when conducting an infrared inspection. Laser Sharp auto focus tells you exactly where you are focusing. Place the red laser dot on the equipment you are inspecting, then pull and release the trigger for a perfect in-focus image that enables me to provide a proper diagnosis.  The resulting thermographs reveal a spectrum of heat signatures that we can’t see with our naked eye, making them invaluable for spotting hidden problems.  March 10, 2014
