A banana plug is the male half of a pair of mating connectors, known as a banana connector. A banana connector, made up of the banana plug and banana jack, is a single-wire device used for joining wires to equipment. A banana connector is commonly used to end patch cords for test equipment. Banana connectors can also be used in high fidelity sound systems, as the plugs on the cables that connect the amplifier to the speakers.
