Product Overview

The high-performance, low-power Atmel 8-bit AVR RISC-based microcontroller combines 8KB ISP flash memory, 512B EEPROM, 512-Byte SRAM, 6 general purpose I/O lines, 32 general purpose working registers, one 8-bit timer/counter with compare modes, one 8-bit high speed timer/counter, USI, internal and external Interrupts, 4-channel 10-bit A/D converter, programmable watchdog timer with internal oscillator, three software selectable power saving modes, and debugWIRE for on-chip debugging. The device achieves a throughput of 20 MIPS at 20 MHz and operates between 2.7-5.5 volts.

    Attiny85-20PU I had several projects in mind for these little mcu's, [I bought 10], and started looking to buy on-line. After searching for a couple hours I decided to buy from element 14 because they had them in stock, they were cheaper than buying from china, plus I had them in three days. I hate to wait to get parts when I have ideas I want to try. Buying from china is usually very cheap, most electronics are made there anyways, but shipping takes a month or more. I prefer to buy from and support local American companies but most of the time the cost difference is big.     Small, easy to use, and cheap The ATtiny series in general is a great line of MCUs. I'm programming it with the USBtinyISP and avrdude which works really well. Just remember to get some sockets along with them for easy removal and reprogramming. April 18, 2015
    Great microcontroller If you need a small, inexpensive microcontroller, this one may be for you. It only has 8 pins, which means you only have 5-6 outputs. For my purposes, I only needed one or two, so it works great for me. The attiny84 has more pins if you need them. 512 bytes of ram is a bit small, but efficient programming should overcome most issues with memory. I found the internal clock to be fairly stable between temperature ranges of 10 degrees Fahrenheit to 80 degrees, which is pretty nice. You can get up to 8 MHz if you reset the onboard fuses as well. Overall a great and versatile piece for any electronics kit. February 11, 2015
