The ZTP-135SR is a Thermopile IR Sensor used for non-contact surface temperature measuring. This model consists of thermo-elements, flat IR filter, a thermistor for temperature. There is also a variety of filters available to help maximize performance in specific applications.

I am trying to measure the temperature of 2 spinning targets, one being 6 inches in distance and the other being 18 inches in distance. Are these sensors water resistant, meaning can I use them out doors? If this sensor will not work, what one do you recommend. The temperature range is -20 C to 100 C.

As per supplier reply, below are few concerns about your design:

1. If you wind up with moisture on the window filter, the output will decrease, as the moisture will absorb and reflect IR from the target object.
2. If moisture forms on the underside of the sensor, bridging the glass seal around the leads and the surface, you will have an electrical short condition.
3. The object distance and movement can affect the IR sensor’s performance, but if you are using a multi-pixel sensor, you can detect over a longer distance and better track a moving object.

The best solution at this time would be part No: ZTP-188ML, however this product is not in mass production yet.
