Product Overview

966 is a low profile microSD card adapter for Raspberry Pi. Makes user Pi a little slimmer with this microSD card adapter board. It slides in where the SD card goes but is half the length. Pop in a microSD card for a sleeker machine. The microSD card holder is a push-push type so user can push on the edge that sticks out to remove the card when necessary.
  • Protrudes from edge of Raspberry Pi 3mm with microSD card installed
  • Thickness (clearance required from bottom of Raspberry Pi) of 5.5mm

Customer Reviews

If you'e planning on putting a Pi A or B in service out in the real world... .... then you definitely need one of these. It keeps the SD card from sticking out of any case you put the Pi in. This prevents the storage from being in a position to get broken off... which is a danger of putting a PI in service in the real world. The newer PI's have the micro SD card slots, but if you have an earlier model this is a definite must! February 17, 2015
Awesome but a word of warning Be sure to use this knowing that it might flatten out your SD Card slot's contacts. I used two of them on my two Raspberry Pi's and both had their SD Card slot contacts flattened, they won't read any other card unless you apply a lot of pressure. I fix them by bending the contacts back out, I also added a solder layer on top of the contacts to make them protrude out more. I was expecting plastic, like most adapters but they used fiberglass pcb board instead, making them extra think and inflexible. That's probably what caused the contacts to go flat. If you plan on keeping the adapter (or converter as I like to call it) in the device, you don't need to worry about this issue, it works like a champ. BTW, I'm a big Adafruit fan, so I let this slide. :) January 7, 2013

With the RPi and Micro-SD aside does this adapter have a "max" data transfer speed?

I have not seen any change in the speed using this. Using different quality SD cards makes more of difference. I've also used this or an SD micro to regular SD card adapter and have noticed no measurable difference in speed.
